Personalized Birthday Mural

by Hannah
(Sydney, nsw, Australia)

A birthday celebration for a friend, with all his best friends there as characters - a big party!

I want to give it as a present with all the people who are special to him clearly identified by what they wear and their features..

I'm just not sure of composition and placement and i want it to be a very crafty project - doesn't have to be just paint...eg, perhaps collage or use of different mediums?

What are your thoughts? i want about 30 characters all up, with the focus on the birthday boy.

Reply from Dawn at Wall Murals 1-2-3 - Hannah, this sounds like a fun project - what a lucky birthday boy! There are some caricature artists that are relatively inexpensive. It might be fun to have one draw a sketch for you using photos of the "characters". Using that sketch, you could then enlarge it and turn it into a personalized birthday mural.

I think the collage idea would be a lot of fun to implement also! If you have a wallpaper store nearby, see if they have any old books or samples that they want to get rid of. You could then use these for the clothes. It might be fun to glue on buttons, zippers, patches, etc.

Of course, if you have any suggestions or ideas for Hannah, make sure you share them here by posting a reply.

Good luck Hannah! Let us know how it turns out...
